Description
The Emperor Angelfish (Pomacanthus imperator) is a species of marine angelfish. I have seen is only a few times. What a joy to find it finally.
It is a reef-associated fish, native to the Indian and Pacific Oceans, from the Red Sea to Hawaii and the Austral Islands. The pattern of the fish is brilliant, colorful and beautiful.
Juveniles are dark blue with electric blue and white rings; adults have yellow and blue stripes, with black around the eyes. It takes about 24 to 30 months for an emperor angelfish to acquire its adult coloring.
The yellow colored fish are the Masked Butterflyfish. Also called the Bluecheek Butterflyfish. I added them with another photograph into this scene. They often swim close to the Angelfish.
The fish on the right side are Sailfin Tang, Yellowtail Tang and Royal Angelfish.
