Description
Daisy parrotfish (Chlorurus sordidus). Also called The Bullethead Parrotfish.
Found singly or in large schools foraging for food over shallow reef flats, lagoons and seaward reefs rich in algae growth.
Juveniles found over coral rubble of reef flats and lagoons.
Geographical variation in colour.
Length max 40cm.
Widespread in the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea.
Parrotfish are hermaphrodites and live in harems with a dominant male. They are not territorial, living and feeding in harmony with other species.
