Pike perch are usually caught on lakes in Central Finland. The best way to catch pike perch is to fish with nets.
I found fresh pike perch in the store. It is a white fish, which you cook very quickly. A great choice is to add it in a salad with lettuce, leek, tomatoes, lemon, basil and cucumber. A very traditional Finnish dish. And so healthy.
Decorate with dill for extra flavor. Season with salt, lemon pepper and dried tarragon or thyme.
Found in inland waterways in southern and central Finland as well as a few locations further north, including lakes Kemijärvi and Raanujärvi. Also occurs in the Gulf of Finland and Gulf of Botnia as far as Uusikaupunki, seldom further north. Other names: Zander, European pike perch.
